Reiki (pronounced RAY-KEY) is a form of “energetic” healing, and works in harmony with all other forms of treatment (medical, psychological).
Many philosophical/religious systems and even some branches of science now understand that there is an unseen energy that flows through all living things. This energy is believed to be around us all the time and is believed to be what creates and sustains life.
This energy is referred to by different names by different belief systems and cultures. For example, the Chinese refer to it as “ki” and the Hawaiians refer to it as “ti” or “ki.” In Sanskrit, it is referred to as “prana.” Christians may refer to it as “God,” “Spirit,” or “the Holy Spirit.”
The word Reiki is composed of two different Japanese words. The word “rei” in Japanese is generally translated as “universal,” “God,” “soul,” or “spiritual.” The word “ki” is translated as “energy” or “life force.” Therefore, Reiki represents the life force energy and the source of that energy is spiritual. Consequently, the word Reiki is often translated as “universal life energy” or “life force energy.”
Just for today, I will live with gratitude.
Just for today, I will not worry.
Just for today, I will not anger.
Just for today, I will do my work honestly.
Just for today, I will have respect for every living thing.
